What is this?

A playlist generator! Give me a band and I'll find you a list of songs that might be of interest. It's a bit like radio based on a specific artist/band.

Alternatively, tell me your Last.fm User ID and I'll make a playlist based on your Last.fm recommended artists.

Why doesn't it generate proper Spotify playlists?

The technology to do that is still a bit hit-and-miss. Using the copy/paste method means it should work every time. You can always post it into a new playlist yourself.
